Ways You Can Help
Help us in our mission to make animal cruelty/neglect to cats and dogs a felony!
1. Write, email or call your Senators and Representatives in support of a felony animal cruelty law for cats and dogs. To
find your legislators, go to:
www.capitolconnect.com and click on "legislator search," and type in your address. This will give you
your Senator and Representative information including contact information. You can mention livestock are already protected by
a first offense felony cruelty law!
2. Write letters to the Editors of your local paper regarding animal cruelty
cases in your community
and how the current laws effect these defenseless
animals. Be sure to mention a felony animal cruelty law for cats and dogs will
provide protections to animals as well as people.
3. Contact media (television, radio stations) when animal cruelty cases
occur in
your area and let your voice be heard! Be sure to mention how the
current misdemeanor laws fail to prosecute these cases fully, leaving
people
at risk.
4. Educate people in your community about animal cruelty and how MS does not currently prosecute the worst offenders
as felons, leaving them free to
graduate to people.
5. Educate your community by printing our brochure or newsletter and promote all
of the ways they can help support passing tougher laws.
6. Send the link for this website,
www.ms-fact.org, to all of your friends
and contacts.
7. Join our Facebook group "Mississippi-Fighting Animal Cruelty Together" or
become a member of MS-FACT and stay informed
about our progress!
8. Email Farm Bureau President,
David Waide, and Farm Bureau board members in support of a felony cruelty
law for cats and dogs and ask HOW their opposition of this type bill could effect soybean and corn production.
Mississippi - Fighting Animal Cruelty Together (MS-FACT) is dedicated to increasing public awareness about the need for a felony animal cruelty law for dogs and cats. Get involved and help us pass tougher laws in Mississippi to fight animal-cruelty! As a non-profit, MS-FACT depends primarily on donations to purchase needed materials for educational purposes, space at petition-signing events, and printing and postage for mass mailings throughout the state. Please note that financial contributions are not tax-deductible.
Please make a secure online donation. Any contribution amount will help us achieve our mission: to make malicious acts of animal cruelty and/or neglect to cats and dogs a felony offense!
